Basic Rhythm Studies - Book by Cathy Williams Hargrave. Item # CH002 - $7.95 |
| Written
by a skilled Suzuki teacher, here is a useful book for strengthening
rhythm reading skills for students in any method. It is a rhythm
workbook and consists of 9 chapters and explanatory notes to teachers.
Each rhythmic unit (quarter note, quarter rest, etc.) is intended to be
introduced to the student by ear, then associated with its notation on
the page by means of the many patterns included. There
are 180 rhythm exercises organized into units that present basic
rhythmic patterns found in beginning, intermediate, and advanced musical
compositions. Each pattern is repeated and reviewed many times to
develop fluency. This approach is based on the Suzuki principle
of having the rhythm "in the ear" before seeing and reading
the notation on the page, but is just as useful for traditional teaching
as well.
The rhythms can be clapped, played on instruments, sung, or used as the basis of student compositions or improvisations. The teaching suggestions are simple. They consist of four sentences! The exercises are useful in private teaching as well as classroom instruction of general music, band, orchestra, and choir Features of the book: Paperback, 8 ½ X 11 inches, 20 pages, 20 examples reinforcing each rhythm pattern What readers say: "I'm loving your books and so are my students!
I've been using the Basic Rhythm Studies all week and it's working even better than I
imagined. |
