004 Eddie Crumb Package – $45.00 (1 each of Story Book, Work Book, and Teacher Guidebook)

Introduce your students to piano music with this unique program. The imaginative story of the Crumb family leads to eight special projects in musicianship, which are designed to develop creativity, aural and visual skills. Musicianship is developed through Workbook pages (suited for group or private teaching), and additional group activities which are suggested in the Guidebook. Concepts are explained in a context that puts them effectively within the grasp of young minds. Suitable for pre-beginner piano groups, private lesson, group/class, home school, and school classroom. Ages 6 - 9.

Story Book:  The story is of the Crumbs, a family of field mice, who move into a dollhouse in the home of a piano teacher. The Crumb children, Eddie and Sara, want to become musicians, so they watch the piano lessons through a wall vent, and practice everything on the dollhouse piano.  A big problem is that the dollhouse piano is really a music box and will play only one tune.  Another challenge is Jazzabell the cat, who likes to sniff around and chase mice.  When it is time for the Crumb family to return to the field in the spring, Papa Crumb unveils a special project that will keep music with them forever.  54-page paperback book comes with a bookmark/sticker that says “I Love Eddie Crumb”.

Work Book: Eight units of activities that develop musicianship in young children, with a special emphasis on listening skills and free improvisation. Students will hear music as an art that expresses real life and use their imaginations as they learn. The eight piano keys on the front cover represent the eight units to be completed.  As the student achieves each goal, they will color or place a sticker on each key to mark the accomplishment. The units are titled:

  • Preview “Five Little Birdies”

  • Unit One “The Sounds of Things” listening to sounds around us

  • Unit Two “Sound Stories” free improvisation – no notation required

  • Unit Three “Notes and Rhythm” basic fun with notes

WHAT OTHERS SAY:

"Wonderfully imaginative and engaging, this gentle introduction to the piano will help prepare beginning musicians for the challenges of musical study.  Maxner has successfully combined the power of storytelling with related discussion and hands-on activities which effortlessly guide both student and teacher through the first stages of piano training.  It's the best new resource of the millennium!"  . . .Heather Thompson, Home-schooling parent and owner of the Rockcliffe publishing company, which produces Home-school materials. Rothesay, NB

"Hi, my name is Krista Hennigar. The reason why I like this book is because
it is fun to read. It helped me a lot with piano, and teached me more about
piano. And if I were Eddie Crumb I would love my life because Eddie learns a
lot about the inside and outside of the piano. You should read this book
because it inspired me to practice more and play the piano more." . . Krista Hennigar, age 9, is a transfer student in her second year of piano lessons who just completed the Eddie Crumb program.
