Sample Bingo Playing Card from Item #BR100 |
Side 1 Music History Summary Sheet - Item #BR002 |
MUSIC
HISTORY BINGO |
All materials are fully laminated. Game includes 12 colorful game cards, 44 composer calling cards, and an illustrated Summary of Music History. (The Summary is available separately for student awards and prizes.) The game is particularly suited to group teaching, music camps, and theory fairs.
This game is designed to help music students pronounce and associate 44 composers with their appropriate historical style period. It is based on the familiar Bingo game. There are two columns of Romantic composers, indicative of the extraordinary output of composers during the 19th century.
The calling cards are especially useful because each one includes the composers dates, a phonetic pronunciation guide, and a short, readable biographical sketch of interesting facts about the composers life. Cards are color coded to suggest certain characteristics of each historical style period and matching the color coding of MY OWN MUSIC HISTORY materials:
Baroque yellow, reflecting the richness of gold and the ornamental style of the Baroque period
Classical blue, indicating the cool balance and order of the Classical period
Romantic red, suggesting the emotional and expressive nature of the Romantic period
Modern green, implying the blossoming of new styles that are still in transition

My students love it! All ages and levels request that we play it, even with only five minutes remaining. Best of all, they are remembering composers and some of the special information about each period of music. I have had the game for three years. . .Janet Bell, private piano & voice teacher
