Many beginning musicians find that learning to read notes and rhythms is the hardest part of studying an instrument. But never mind—here comes Rabbit-Man to the rescue! Rabbit-Man’s musical games and pencil activities are challenging and fun, and they are interesting to the child from start to finish. They are also wonderful coloring books.

The Rabbit-Man’s Music Book Series is helpful to all music students, regardless of their instrument.  Can be used with any teaching method (or none at all). Allows teachers and parents to discover any gaps in a child’s understanding of the basics of music and helps fill those gaps.

Author Julie Albright is a professional musician who has taught piano, music theory and composition for many years. The notable illustrations are by Vincent Fago, a cartoonist, writer and illustrator of children’s books who wrote and illustrated the Peter Rabbit comic strip for the New York Herald Tribune Syndicate for many years. He also produced the Pendulum Illustrated Classics Series which has had wide use in schools.

CONTENTS OF FIVE-BOOK SERIES:
BOOK 1 Teaches the basics of music notation, including the line and space notes, high and low notes, the staff, clef signs and four landmark notes.
BOOK 2 Teaches note reading, including all the notes on the grand staff from low F to high G
BOOK 3 Explains counting (including why it’s fun) and time signatures
BOOK 4 Explores the difference between rhythm and meter and introduces counting eighth and sixteenth notes.
BOOK 5 Teaches counting even more complex rhythms and uses simple poems to begin writing songs.

Each book focuses on one aspect of music study, but also reviews material from the previous book(s), so that the child’s knowledge is continually reinforced. Book 1 is suitable for ages 4-8, and because the rabbit characters in succeeding books become more sophisticated (cool, that is) the books remain appealing to children as they get older.

Here’s what the kids say: "This is a fun book!" . . . Sara Liu, Age 6 "I LOVE Rabbit-Man!". . .Meredith Olsen, Age 9 "Rabbit-Man is cool!". . .Nick Charyk, Age 11

Here’s what teachers say:
"Rabbit-Man’s Music Books are a charming, step-by-step introduction to the often confusing visual details required to read music well. These are very motivating and confidence-building books that inspire kids to study and learn music on their own.. . .Marilyn Taggart, piano teacher for over 30 years and contributing author of Ten Teachers/ Viewpoints on Suzuki Piano

"I would like to tell you how happy I am with your Rabbit-Man’s Music Book series. I have been teaching for over thirty years, and have been looking for this kind of series for a long time. You have accomplished the delicate balance of introducing fun and learning, in a systematic and logical way. Although there are many children’s music-reading and theory books in the music stores, this series is the most well though-out that I have ever seen. . .My students are enthusiastic when I tell them it’s time for Rabbit-Man! Thank you for your excellent work!. . .Myrna E. Miller, B. Mus., Philadelphia

P.S. Parents on a long car ride would find these books indispensable for entertainment and educational value!
